What is Organize, rotate and delete PDF pages?
Reordering, rotating and deleting pages are combined here because they always travel together. Open a freshly scanned bundle and you typically find a page upside down, a blank page to drop, and a couple of pages out of sequence. Three separate tools would mean downloading and re-uploading three times.
Every page is rendered as a thumbnail, so you arrange by eye rather than by remembering page numbers. That difference is bigger than it sounds: you see the upside-down page and rotate that one, instead of opening the document in another window to work out which number it was.
Rendering the previews takes a few seconds on a long document, because the browser has to draw each page. The thumbnails are deliberately small and heavily compressed since they exist only for you to look at. The saved file is rebuilt from the original, so nothing is lost.
Removed pages fade rather than disappear, and clicking again brings them back. Reset restores the original order, rotation and every removed page.
How to use
- Choose a PDF and wait a moment while the previews render.
- Use the left and right arrows under each page to move it.
- Click the rotate icon to turn a page 90 degrees per click.
- Click the cross to remove a page, click again to bring it back.
- Press save and the new file downloads. Your original is untouched.
Frequently asked questions
Is this different from rotating in a PDF reader?
Yes. Many readers only rotate the on-screen view, which is lost when you close the file. Here the rotation is written into the file itself, so it is correct wherever the file is opened or printed.
Does saving reduce quality?
No. The thumbnails are heavily compressed to stay light, but the saved file is rebuilt from the original content, not from those images. Text stays selectable and images keep their sharpness.
Will a long document be slow?
The preview step scales with page count. A few dozen pages is near instant; several hundred takes a wait, because the browser draws each page in turn. Saving is always fast.
Can I rotate by an angle other than 90 degrees?
No. The PDF specification only stores rotation as 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees. An arbitrary tilt would require rebuilding the page as an image, which would lose the selectable text layer.
